Raj Kulkarni

(General Partner)

Raj is a software industry entrepreneur and a senior executive with over 25 years in high technology management. He has direct experience as an operating executive and is an active investor and executive mentor with early stage companies from startup through M&A.

He founded GemStone Systems, an enterprise infrastructure software company that has pioneered the adoption of several infrastructure technologies including object oriented database management systems, application servers and in-memory, virtualized real-time data grids. Most recently, GemStone was acquired by VMWare , a leader in the virtualization and cloud computing space.

Raj truly enjoys working with and mentoring entrepreneurs. He is a founding charter member and a board member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Portland chapter. Raj is also a limited partner in Portland Seed Fund and Founders’ Co-op, a seed stage investment fund out of Seattle, WA. He is an active member of two of the most prominent Florida focused investment groups: New World Angels, a private group of angel investors) and Miami Innovation Fund , a private group of seed investors).

Raj is an active seed investor / advisor / mentor and has invested in several startups in Oregon and Florida including: BitDeli (a hosted platform for real-time data analytics), Celly (enables creation of public or private social networks instantly), Chirpify (enables consumers and businesses to buy, sell, donate and transact in-stream on Twitter), Gamiana (developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games), Geoloqi (a real-time location platform), GlobeSherpa (a secure, mobile ticketing platform for transit systems, sold to ESRI), LivePlate (lets people cook together in real time, using group video and chat), MyMela (a dynamic online marketplace for Indian artisans), PHPFog (recently renamed AppFog, a leading platform as a service, PAAS provider), SweetSpot Diabetes Care (a health data company focused on data in treatment of diabetes, recently sold to DexCom), WedWu (a Priceline-like service for brides and grooms), and zApproved (legal and regulatory compliance platform SaaS).

Suren Kulkarni

Suren has around 20 years of rich experience in the areas of running startups, sales & marketing, strategic outsourcing and managing P&Ls. During his career, he has operated globally in a variety of market sectors and has led teams providing solutions and services to some of the leading organizations in the world.

Suren has led teams in the Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Logistics and Government sectors. He has worked with leading organizations like iGATE (fka Patni), Satyam (now Tech Mahindra), IBM and Bahwans. He specializes in product & sales strategy.

His entrepreneurial attitude & experience spans across building and managing new business, starting new country operations and building high revenue streams through new business opportunities. He has closely worked with startups and was instrumental in building companies right from scratch, driving growth, overseeing key management functions, developing strategic business plans and successfully brining in significant investments from global companies. By building high performance teams and expanding portfolios, he has played pivotal roles in successfully transforming businesses.

Suren holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering with MBA in Financial Management. By virtue of his experience with startups, he has good understanding of the issues and believes in active participation as part of the management team. He brings extensive leadership and industry experience to help startups build a strong brand and create the market value to make them ready for investments.

Scott Fogarty

(Managing Partner)

Scott has been a leader of turnaround and start-up media companies, has led buyout transactions with total value of $1.2 billion and acted as an investor, advisor and leader to young growth businesses. Currently, Scott is an investor in, and advisor to PlanetHS, Tales2Go, BizHive, e-Medical University and Innovations International.

As an operating executive, Scott served as CEO of Films Media Group, the largest library of educational video in North America, where he led a transformational business turnaround. He was also the founding president of Software on Demand, distributing software electronically via satellite, and Zuma ed, a digital content provider for K-12 instructors.

As a corporate development executive at Primedia, Inc. (a KKR portfolio company, NYSE: PRM) Scott led more than 30 buyout transactions of online, video, event and print media companies. Early in his career, he was a sales management leader in broadcast television. Scott earned an MBA from Columbia and an AB from Harvard University.

Scott was born in France and raised in France, Switzerland and the UK until he attended high school in the United States at Hotchkiss. His home for nearly 30 years was New York City. In New York, Scott was a member of the Vestry of Saint Michael's Church on the Upper West Side, and he acted as chairman of St Michael's Cemetery in Queens, NY. Scott now lives in south Florida with his wife, Kate, and their four children, Will (15), James, (12), Nina (10) and David (5).
